My dad has worked as a patrol for over 30 years so growing up, I wanted to be just like him, so when the opportunity came, I grabbed it with both hands. I wouldn’t be the patrol I am today if it wasn’t for him. Being out on the road everyday with every job being different – no two days or two jobs are ever the same. You never know where or what you’re doing next – every day is an adventure.”
Matthew, Patrol since 2020
I spent 17 years as a Patrol at the well-known competitor, but after speaking with some RAC patrols I knew, they encouraged me to make the move. I’ve really enjoyed my first six months here. It’s been a refreshing, laid-back change compared to the stressful environment I was used to before. Here, the alignment and collaboration really stand out.”
Darren, Patrol since 2025
I chose to become an RAC patrol because I wanted something a little bit different than working in a dealership. Done that for a long time and once there’s a new challenge. So, this job is something new. Everyday new places, everyday new people. I love what I do, I like to help people out in stressful situations. Trying to get them back on the road is really rewarding for me.”
Nick, Patrol since 2019
I was at the top of my game in a dealership, but there was that thought of ‘where do I go next?’ for me. I liked the look of being out on the road with everyday being fresh and different through the vehicles, situations and experiences. I would encourage anyone to join the RAC as a patrol or mobile mechanic. It’s a great company to work for – you get trained well and the tools and equipment are of a high standard. The teams you’re part of will be supportive and your manager will to there to help and encourage you.”
Andrew, Patrol since 2000
At the RAC I’m able to resolve most situations at the roadside with just a single resource. I love seeing how impressed our members are each time we find a solution. If you’re thinking of applying for a role, absolutely go for it! I made the jump and I’ve never regretted it… there is a reason people tend to stay for over 35 years!”
James, Patrol Team Manager since 2017
Over the years, I’ve progressed through a variety of patrol and management roles. I started as a Service Team Specialist, which focused mainly on training, then moved into a Lead Patrol role – a hybrid position combining frontline work with leadership responsibilities. Most recently, I’ve stepped into the Patrol Team Manager role, which over the past 12 months has been a full-time management and mentoring position, taking me off the road and giving me the chance to support others in their development. “
